This set of nine interactive activities from the Languages online resource helps students practise saying and writing dates. The key language points addressed in the activities are asking and saying what the date is and the date of a particular occasion, including the language structure for talking about birthdays. In addition, the activities reference key cultural celebrations and occasions in Indonesia. Pronunciation drills are followed by reading and listening comprehension activities including a variety of quizzes and games. Instructions in English, immediate feedback and answers with translations are provided, as well as resources for teachers including additional printable activities and a Language focus page.

Educational value
  • This is a valuable resource for Indonesian language teaching and learning that supports the Communicating and Understanding strands of the Australian Curriculum. It may also support the Reciprocating strand with teacher planning in prompting questions and reflection on cultural elements referenced in the activities. The activities are most suitable for secondary students.
  • There are timed quizzes and games that make the tasks more engaging for the target audience, facilitating the retention of the main language points.
  • The resource exposes students to valuable cultural elements, such as Indonesian celebrations mentioned in the letters, for example, Lebaran.
